Custom Embeds

Create professional, branded Discord messages with M0XY's Custom Embed Builder. Explore the components of an embed, plan your layout, and learn how to prepare images and content for a polished result.

Development Notice

M0XY is currently in development and is not yet available for public installation. This page describes the intended embed-building experience and general Discord embed capabilities. Specific M0XY controls, commands, and supported options will be confirmed as development and testing progress.

1. Overview

Discord embeds are structured messages that can combine a heading, description, accent color, images, and other information in a single formatted message. They are useful for announcements, rules, guides, updates, and community information.

Planned M0XY Embed Features

  • Custom text: Titles and descriptions for announcements or guides.
  • Accent colors: Match the visual style of your server.
  • Images: Include a large image or smaller thumbnail where supported.
  • Fields: Organize related information into labeled blocks.
  • Footer details: Add supporting text and optional timestamps.
  • Channel delivery: Send completed embeds to a selected Discord channel.
Feature Availability

The items above are documentation targets, not a guarantee that every option is already available in the current M0XY test build.

2. Required Permissions

To post an embed, the bot needs access to the destination channel. Check both server-level permissions and any channel-specific overrides.

PermissionPurpose
View ChannelAllows M0XY to access the destination channel.
Send MessagesAllows M0XY to publish a message.
Embed LinksAllows embedded content to appear in the message.
Attach FilesNeeded if a future builder workflow uploads files rather than using external image URLs.

Administrators may also need a M0XY-specific permission or role to use its embed-building controls once those controls are finalized.

3. Embed Builder

The planned builder is intended to let authorized server members compose an embed by entering its content, choosing visual options, reviewing the result, and selecting where to post it.

Suggested Creation Workflow

  1. Open the embed-building interface when it becomes available.
  2. Enter a title and description.
  3. Choose an accent color and any optional visual elements.
  4. Add fields or footer information if needed.
  5. Review the content and verify any image links.
  6. Choose a permitted channel and send the message.
Interface In Development

The final command name, button labels, preview behavior, and exact steps have not yet been confirmed. This section will be updated after the builder is tested.

4. Titles & Descriptions

A title gives the embed a clear subject. The description contains the main message and should be readable without relying on images.

Writing Effective Embed Text

  • Use short, descriptive titles such as “Server Rules” or “Event Announcement.”
  • Keep the most important information near the beginning of the description.
  • Use paragraphs and lists to break up longer messages.
  • Review mentions, links, and formatting before publishing.
Discord Formatting

Discord supports Markdown-style formatting in many embed text areas. Exact formatting support depends on the field and how M0XY processes the content.

5. Embed Colors

An embed color appears as an accent along the side of a Discord embed. Use it to reinforce your server branding or distinguish message types.

Use CaseExample ColorHex Value
General informationCyan#00C8FF
Success or completionGreen#22C55E
Important noticeOrange#F59E0B
Critical announcementRed#EF4444

These colors are suggestions, not fixed M0XY presets. Color-picker and hex-input support will be documented once confirmed.

6. Images & Thumbnails

Discord embeds can display a prominent image and a smaller thumbnail. Large images work well for event banners and announcements; thumbnails are useful for icons or compact branding.

Using Image Links

  • Use a publicly accessible https:// image URL.
  • Direct image links ending in .png, .jpg, or .webp are convenient for testing.
  • Confirm that the image loads without requiring a sign-in.
  • Use images you have permission to share and avoid exposing private file links.
Image Troubleshooting

If an image does not appear, test the URL in a private browser window. Some hosts block external embedding, require authentication, or serve an HTML page instead of an image. A file extension alone does not guarantee a valid image response.

7. Embed Fields

Fields divide information into smaller labeled sections. They can be useful for event details, schedules, server information, or lists of instructions.

Example Event Fields

Field NameExample Value

Time7:00 PM Eastern
LocationCommunity Voice Channel
How to JoinRead the event announcement for instructions.

Discord embeds support inline fields, which can appear beside each other when space permits. M0XY's field editor and any field-count limits will be documented after testing.

9. Sending Embeds

Before posting, confirm the destination channel, message content, and bot permissions. For important announcements, consider testing in a private staff channel first.

Before You Publish

  • Confirm the correct destination channel is selected.
  • Proofread the title, description, and fields.
  • Verify that images and links open correctly.
  • Check whether any mentions could notify a large group.
  • Make sure the bot can view the channel, send messages, and embed links.
Sending Controls In Development

Specific M0XY slash commands, permissions, preview buttons, and edit-after-posting functionality have not been confirmed and are intentionally not listed as available commands.

10. Embed Examples

These examples illustrate content you could build with Discord embeds. They are templates, not claims that a particular M0XY command already exists.

Consider using consistent colors, recognizable titles, and a small number of fields across your server's recurring embeds.

11. Troubleshooting

My Embed Does Not Appear

Confirm that M0XY can view the destination channel, send messages, and embed links. Check that the destination is a supported channel type and that the message was actually submitted.

My Image or Thumbnail Is Missing

Open the image URL in a private browser window. Verify that it returns a public image, not a login page, redirect to a restricted resource, or an expired attachment.

The Text Looks Different Than Expected

Review the Markdown formatting and the field where it was entered. Discord renders titles, descriptions, and field values differently.

I Cannot Find the Embed Builder

M0XY is still in development. Builder commands and access controls may not yet be available in your test version.

Still Need Help?

Additional troubleshooting instructions and support resources will be added as the Custom Embed Builder is completed and tested.
